How I Pick Up Sts - 3sts for 4rows

How I Pick Up Sts - 3sts for 4rows

For my MKAL, Part 2 requires picking up stitches. While there’s no actual wrong way to do this, I thought I’d work up a video of how I like to pick up my sts in order to be sure to achieve a specific appearance.

This particular design has you picking up on the WS, which is atypical, as it leaves a visible border. For the purpose of this design, I decided I wanted that on the front!

Some notes that are mentioned in the video, but I want to be sure to highlight are:

  • The pick-up rate is 3 sts for every 4 rows, which is also 3 sts for every 2 slipped edge sts

  • If it’s hard to see the space between the 2 slipped edge sts in the video, pause the video and try it on your knitting yourself. I think it may be one of those things that makes sense once you do it. :o)

  • Check your stitch count before knitting across your 3 held sts, and again after to confirm you picked up the correct number!

  • Not in the video, but I do go under both sides of the V-loop of the slipped edge, not just the front or back only. <3
